Officiating has become a talking point in NFL circles again over the past 24, but Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell had an interesting take on the state of things.
Bevell was asked about how pass interference has been called in 2019, and he had a simple answer: it isn’t.

One has to wonder if referees are a little spooked about throwing these flags. Pass interference is reviewable now, and perhaps the referees are putting the onus on coaches to correct mistakes. That said, pass interference challenges aren’t leading to many overturned calls.
Maybe it’s all in Bevell’s head. That said, he has some reason to be aggrieved after his team was the victim of a bad pass interference non-call Monday night.
