Marques Colston cut by Saints after ‘failed physical’

Marques-Colston

Marques Colston’s 10-year run with the New Orleans Saints has come to an end.

The team announced on Monday that Colston has been released. It’s worth noting that the move was made with a designation of “failed physical,” which could make it difficult for Colston to find work with another team.

Colston was once arguably Drew Brees’ favorite target, but his production has declined rapidly over the past few seasons. He caught just 45 passes for 520 yards and four touchdowns — all career lows — in 2015. Colston will turn 33 in June, and he is clearly showing signs of wear and tear.

Colston, a former seventh-round pick, is the Saints all-time leader in receptions (711), receiving yards (9,759), and receiving touchdowns (72). It would not be a surprise if he retired.
