Marshawn Lynch was ejected from Thursday night’s Oakland Raiders-Kansas City Chiefs game after grabbing a referee during a second quarter scrum.
Derek Carr was nailed by a late hit from the Chiefs’ Marcus Peters on a third-and-long play in the second quarter. Many of his Raiders teammates came to his defense, including three offensive linemen. In addition, Lynch, who wasn’t even in the game for the play, came running onto the field and got in the middle of things.
He went overboard by grabbing and making contact with a referee:

Two penalties were called in the aftermath of the play. Peters was flagged 15 yards for the late hit, while Lynch was charged with unsportsmanlike conduct. He was ejected from the game for making contact with the official, which also carries a hefty fine.
It will be interesting to see whether Lynch is hit with an even harsher penalty for running onto the field before making contact with the official.
