Martellus Bennett has great quote about going from Tom Brady to Aaron Rodgers
The 2016 season could not have gone any better for Martellus Bennett. The star tight end was traded to the New England Patriots last summer, went on to help them win a Super Bowl and then signed a lucrative deal in free agency. As an added bonus, he gets to go from playing with one future Hall of Fame quarterback to another.
None of that is lost on the star tight end.
In a FaceTime interview on Thursday from Hawaii, where he was donating copies of his children’s book to libraries, Bennett had a hilarious quote about getting to play with Aaron Rodgers after spending a year with Tom Brady.
“That’s like leaving J. Lo and going to Halle Berry,” Bennett told Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle. “We talk often. I’m excited about playing with him. We’ve known each other for a while. I’m excited about working with him and learning his quarterback language and showing him what type of player I am. I think I’m a lot better player than they think I am.”
The Bennett brothers never run out, do they? Martellus, who signed a three-year, $21 million deal with the Packers after catching 55 passes for 701 yards and a career-high seven scores lasy year, said his goal is to win another Super Bowl.
“I’m always excited anytime I get a chance to be a better player and work with different people,” he added. “I’m a competitor. I look forward to going out there and competing for the ultimate goal.”
Bennett, who made a fantastic remark immediately after winning the Super Bowl, has a better sense of humor than most NFL players. The fans in Green Bay will grow to love it if he becomes one of Rodgers’ favorite targets.
