Report: Marvin Lewis on the hot seat in Cincinnati
After a decade and a half at the helm of the Cincinnati Bengals, coach Marvin Lewis may be on the way out.
According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Lewis is firmly on the hot seat with the team just 3-6-1 thus far.
One thing working in Lewis’s favor, however, is that he maintains a close relationship with Bengals owner Mike Brown, and that may yet save him despite the very poor start to the season.
Lewis has coached Cincinnati since 2003, putting him second only to Bill Belichick in terms of longest-tenured NFL head coaches. He still has yet to win a playoff game, going 0-7 in postseason games. That especially is said to be a particular frustration for ownership, no matter how loyal and friendly they are to Lewis.
