Bengals ownership reportedly growing impatient with Marvin Lewis
It may be put up or shut up time for Marvin Lewis in Cincinnati.
According to Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole, Bengals ownership, while happy with the job that Lewis has done for the past 14 years, is growing impatient with the coach’s lack of playoff success.
The Bengals feel that their current team is as good as the franchise has ever had, and the talent level compares favorably to some of their Super Bowl teams of the past. For that reason, Lewis’s 0-7 playoff record is considered unacceptable, and ownership expects improvement in that department in 2016 – or else.
Interestingly, it was reported after Cincinnati’s playoff loss to Pittsburgh that some players were upset with Lewis, though for a different reason. Lewis has turned the Bengals into consistent contenders, which is no small feat. Still, progress needs to be made, or Lewis may lose his job while he and his team will continue to be subjected to taunts like this one from opponents.
