Marvin Lewis tries to knock Jake Elliott down a peg

Philadelphia Eagles kicker Jake Elliott on Sunday nailed what could go down as the most clutch kick of the 2017 season, but the coach of the team that drafted the kicker back in April does not seem all that impressed.

The Eagles signed Elliott off of the Cincinnati Bengals’ practice squad just before Week 1 because Caleb Sturgis suffered an injury. When asked on Wednesday about the 61-yard kick Elliott nailed to carry the Eagles to a win over the New York Giants in Week 3, Marvin Lewis seemed a little salty.

Did you see Jake Elliott's FG?

Marvin: "No. He's what? 3 of 5 since he got there?"

Elliott has actually hit 4-of-6 field goals this season when you count his 61-yarder. He really only had one bad miss, which came in Week 2 against the Kansas City Chiefs when he couldn’t convert a 30-yard kick. Whether Lewis likes it or not, all of that is forgotten after the clutch kick against the Giants.

If you want to know how important Elliott’s kick was, just watch the video of Carson Wentz pacing the sideline and talking about it before it happened. Bitterness is a bad look for an 0-3 coach, Marvin.
