Sunday’s Chicago Bears win turned out to be particularly satisfying for the team’s fans, largely because of who it came against.
The Bears beat the Dallas Cowboys 31-14 Sunday at Soldier Field in Chicago, Il. The game marked Cowboys defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus’ return to the Bears, who fired him as head coach last November.
Eberflus’ defense proved no match for Caleb Williams and the Bears. Chicago piled up 385 total yards and averaged nearly seven yards per play. Williams threw for 298 yards and four touchdowns without turning the ball over, and the Bears had put up 24 points by halftime.
Williams’ success led many to joke that Eberflus was helping the Bears more by coaching against them than he ever had by coaching for them.

Eberflus was fired after brutally mismanaging the Bears’ final drive in a Thanksgiving loss to the Detroit Lions last season. He also did not click with Williams, his rookie quarterback.
The Cowboys have looked vulnerable on defense so far this season, and are not doing Eberflus’ reputation any favors. Then again, he probably thought he would have Micah Parsons at his disposal when he took the job during the offseason.
