Matt Harvey wants to model his dating life after Derek Jeter’s
New York Mets ace Matt Harvey could be the next big thing in New York. In addition to posting a 7-2 record and a 2.35 ERA in 19 starts this season, Harvey also has a tremendous sense of humor. And it seems like the ladies love him.
Harvey, who has dated this beautiful Sports Illustrated swimsuit model, realizes he is quickly reaching celebrity status in The Big Apple. That lifestyle has been tough for people like Alex Rodriguez to handle, which is why Harvey told Men’s Journal he is trying to emulate New York Yankees captain Derek Jeter.
“That guy is the model,” Harvey told Men’s Journal. “I mean, first off, let’s just look at the women he’s dated. Obviously, he goes out – he’s meeting these girls somewhere – but you never hear about it. That’s where I want to be.”
Jeter’s ability to avoid headlines off the field given his community standing has been unmatched in professional sports history. He has dated some of the most beautiful actresses and models in the world, yet — like Harvey mentioned — tabloids are hardly ever to come up with enough information to write a story about the future Hall of Famer.

Make no mistake about it: Harvey plans to enjoy his life off the baseball diamond and already has his sights set on his first massive contract.
“Yes, I’m gonna go out,” he said. “If I was locked up in my house all week, I don’t know what I’d be like on the baseball field. No matter what, New York is now my home. I could buy a place now, but I’ve gotta wait for that $200 million contract. If I’m going to buy an apartment, it has to be the best apartment in the city.”
Jeter has achieved the impossible, but he has done so by staying out of trouble. Aside from the occasional story about him trading memorabilia for one-night stands, his personal life has remained largely under wraps. Harvey is wise to try to model his personal life after Jeter’s, but it’s probably a lot more work than he expects.
