Matt Patricia was a name we heard over and over again a year ago when NFL teams were filling their head coaching vacancies, and this offseason will be no different.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the New York Giants have submitted requests to interview New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and also Patricia, the team’s defensive coordinator. Schefter believes New York makes sense as a landing spot for Patricia.

The Detroit Lions have also requested permission to interview Patricia, and more teams are expected to follow.

Patricia has already been mentioned as the leading candidate for the Lions job, so it would be a surprise if the 43-year-old doesn’t land his first head coaching gig this offseason. Patricia has been an assistant on Bill Belichick’s staff since 2004 and has won three Super Bowls with the Patriots. That makes for an impressive resume.
