Matt Ryan was supposed to be the answer at quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts in the 2022 season, but the campaign was a disaster on pretty much all fronts. Ryan knows it, too.
In an interview with Josh Kendall of The Athletic, Ryan perfectly summed up the previous year and a half from the point he was traded from the Atlanta Falcons to the Colts.
“I mean, it was a s— show, you know, it was a s— show of 18 months basically is the best way to describe it,” Ryan said. “But I think everybody in our family handled it well and came out of it stronger and in a really good spot.”

That is the perfect way to describe it. Ryan went from franchise quarterback to benched to reinstated as the Colts made a midseason coaching change. The team wound up going 4-12-1, with Ryan starting 12 of the team’s 17 games.
Ryan has not officially retired, but he sounds like he’s done playing. It is a shame he had to go out with such a disaster of a season.
