Melvin Gordon: StubHub Center was 50% Dolphins fans for Chargers’ home opener
Melvin Gordon and the Chargers were probably hoping for a bit warmer of a Los Angeles welcome.
After the Chargers fell in their Week 2 home opener to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, the Pro Bowl running back commented that the StubHub Center was 50 percent Dolphins fans, per Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post.

A number of longtime Chargers fans appeared to abandon the team upon their relocation from San Diego to Los Angeles this winter. Furthermore, there’s little incentive for LA natives to support a bad team they have almost no ties to when there’s already another pro football team in the area (who themselves have been struggling with attendance) and plenty of winning professional and collegiate teams in Los Angeles to root for. Thus, it’s unfortunate the Bolts are having difficulty drumming up enthusiasm in LA but not all that surprising.
