Michael Bennett traded from Eagles to Patriots
The Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to a deal to send defensive end Michael Bennett to the New England Patriots.
Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer was the first to report the news.
An #Eagles trade of DE Michael Bennett to the Patriots is going down as of this writing, NFL sources said. Draft picks still be ironed out.

It was well known that the Eagles were looking to trade Bennett, and they had reportedly planned to release him if they could not find a trade partner. While the 33-year-old has a reasonable salary cap number of $7.2 million in 2019, the Eagles are loaded on the defensive line and were planning to use him in more of a reserve role. Bennett wants to start, and he made it clear he had no intention of taking a pay cut to remain in Philly.
The Patriots are likely going to lose pass rusher Trey Flowers in free agency, so Bennett will be a nice addition to their defensive front.
