Michael Floyd hit with four charges for DUI arrest, could face jail time

Michael Floyd

New England Patriots wide receiver Michael Floyd was charged with more than just driving while under the influence when he was arrested in Scottsdale, Ariz., last week.

TMZ reports that Floyd was brought up on four misdemeanor charges Monday morning. In addition to two counts of driving while under the influence, Floyd was also charged with one count of failure to obey a police officer and one count of obstructing traffic. He was also given a citation for failing to obey a traffic light.

Floyd, who was released by the Arizona Cardinals not long after his arrest, could face up to six months in jail for each charge. While it seems unlikely that he will do any jail time, the possibility certainly exists.

Police say they witnessed Floyd asleep behind the wheel of his car at a traffic light. The former first-round pick was also arrested for DUI while in college at Notre Dame, so this is not his first offense.

Floyd was claimed by the Patriots after Arizona quickly parted ways with him, and Cardinals president Michael Bidwill said Floyd’s reaction to the DUI had as much to do with his release as the actual arrest. Floyd was inactive on Sunday when the Patriots traveled to Denver and defeated the Broncos.
