Report: Mike McCarthy unlikely to be fired by Packers

Despite the struggles experienced by the Green Bay Packers, head coach Mike McCarthy’s job is reportedly unlikely to be fired for the moment.

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, McCarthy’s job is likely safe, with changes to the front office and the rest of his coaching staff considered much more likely.

There is reportedly concern about the team’s lack of impact from recent drafts, which could threaten the security of general manager Ted Thompson. Defensive coordinator Dom Capers is another who may be made to take the fall for the Packers’ recent slide.

There are also reportedly no problems between McCarthy and quarterback Aaron Rodgers, with team sources insisting that mutual respect remains there.

McCarthy has been a bit defensive lately when asked about his team, so he’s probably feeling a fair bit of pressure. At the moment, though, it doesn’t sound like the team is inclined to get rid of him.
