Mitchell Trubisky reportedly not a lock to return in Week 13

Mitchell Trubisky

The Chicago Bears found a way to win and increase their lead in the NFC North on Thanksgiving despite not having starting quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, and there’s a chance they may need to do the same again next week.

Trubisky sat out on Thursday with a shoulder injury, and ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that he is not a lock to return in Week 13 to face the New York Giants.

Trubisky is dealing with a sprained AC joint, which can be a nuisance injury for a quarterback and have a tendency to linger. There was talk that he would have been able to play in Week 12 if the Bears didn’t have a short week, so that’s a positive sign.

Chase Daniel got the start against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving and completed 73 percent of his passes for 230 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. If Trubisky is feeling less than 100 percent next week, the Bears may be comfortable with giving Daniel another start against a sub-par opponent.
