Myles Garrett gives Browns encouragement with new comments
Cleveland Browns star Myles Garrett gave fans some encouragement with his comments on the latest episode of HBO’s in-season “Hard Knocks.”
On the episode that aired Tuesday, Garrett revealed he had face-to-face talks with general manager Andrew Berry about the future of the Browns. The star pass rusher sounded optimistic about the future and suggested that a quick turnaround is possible.
“I’ve talked to (Berry),” Garrett said, via Grant Gordon of NFL.com. “How we gonna make the most of all the talent that is here? We’re closer than some may think we are.”
That is a big shift in language for Garrett, who previously voiced concern that the team was on the wrong track. That led to a lot of speculation that Garrett might seek a trade if he did not receive the assurances he was looking for. This does not completely silence that speculation, but it certainly sounds a lot better for the Browns than what he had been saying before.
Garrett had his usual strong season, collecting 14 sacks while playing all 17 games. Despite his efforts, the Browns went just 3-14, prompting Garrett to air some frustrations. He said he wanted to know the direction the organization was going in, and he sounds a lot more optimistic about things now.
