Newspapers show Aaron Rodgers no respect in tweets
Wednesday was a huge day for Aaron Rodgers, who received a massive contract extension from the Green Bay Packers. Rodgers signed a 4-year, $134 million extension that keeps him with the Packers through 2023. The deal also makes Rodgers the current highest-paid player in the NFL in new money.
Not only is Rodgers the current highest-paid player in the league, but he’s also a two-time league MVP, Super Bowl MVP and six-time Pro Bowler. But all of that still didn’t buy him respect from a couple of newspapers, which referred to him as “Danica Patrick’s boyfriend” when announcing the news on Twitter.
The Indy Star’s tweet promoting their story on the contract said “Danica Patrick’s boyfriend gets record extension with Green Bay Packers.”

The Detroit Free Press did the same, saying “Danica Patrick’s boyfriend agrees to a huge contract extension with the Packers.”

Rodgers and Patrick have been dating since at least earlier this year.
Maybe they were doing that to appeal to non-football fans who might know Patrick but not Rodgers, but Rodgers deserves so much more. He’s one of the best quarterbacks of all-time and far more accomplished in his sport than Patrick was as a driver. He’s also extremely famous as well. He shouldn’t be slighted by being referred to as Patrick’s boyfriend.
