NFL community pays tribute to late Packers legend Bart Starr

The Green Bay Packers are mourning the loss of one of the greatest players in franchise history.

On Sunday, the Packers announced that Hall of Fame quarterback Bart Starr has passed away at age 85. The Starr family released a statement revealing that Bart suffered a stroke in 2014 and had another illness recently that was “too much to overcome.”

Starr played for the Packers for 16 seasons from 1956 to 1971. He was the first Super Bowl champion quarterback in NFL history, leading Green Bay to wins in Super Bowls I and II. He was named to four Pro Bowls and won the NFL MVP Award in 1966. He is widely considered one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history.
