The NFL is investigating Philadelphia Eagles security chief Dom DiSandro after former linebacker Emmanuel Acho described a years-old car accident on his podcast, reports long-time Eagles reporter Derrick Gunn.
Gunn said on Wednesday that the league is still looking into DiSandro, known as Big Dom, based on comments Acho made in early August on Speakeasy. Acho never named DiSandro.
Acho played for the Browns, Eagles and Giants and said he would not identify the team so listeners could not pinpoint the franchise. Speculation has centered on Philadelphia.
Acho said he rear-ended another vehicle on the way to practice and called team security. According to his account, a staffer told him to send the first officer away and wait for a second officer who would place fault on the other driver. Acho said that is exactly what followed.
After the other driver learned he played in the NFL, she cited injuries. Acho said the head of security then offered two home tickets and signed jerseys, and the driver responded that they were fine.
The NFL had not commented publicly as of Thursday. Neither have the Eagles or DiSandro.
DiSandro joined the Eagles in 1999 and serves as chief security officer, senior advisor to the general manager and head of gameday coaching operations. In 2023, the league banned him from the sideline for the rest of the regular season and fined the club $100,000 after a confrontation with then-49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw.
Former Eagles cornerback Asante Samuel criticized Acho on social media, saying the comments appeared driven by a desire for attention. The league has not announced findings.
