NFL has ‘significant concern’ about field condition for Mexico City game
The Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Rams are scheduled to play in Mexico City on Monday night, but it sounds like there is a legitimate chance that there could either be a postponement or location change for the contest.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, NFL officials are discussing whether or not Monday night’s game can safely be played given the horrible state of the field surface at Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca.
Discussions continue about whether Monday night’s Chiefs-Rams game will be played in Mexico City, LA or postponed, per sources. NFL determined to play it Monday night in Mexico City, but the field is “a mess” and might not be safe for players. It’s a significant concern.

Estadio Azteca has recently hosted soccer games and concerts, which have reportedly left the field “a mess.” Schefter adds that the game is still expected to be played as scheduled, but NFL officials will meet at the stadium on Tuesday to assess the condition and make a final decision.
Between concerns about the Mexico City venue and the wildfires that have been raging in California, the NFL has had to deal with some unexpected scheduling issues over the past week.
