NFL confirms two Tom Brady jerseys found, stolen by credentialed media member

Tom Brady

The NFL has confirmed that not one, but two, of Tom Brady’s stolen game-worn Super Bowl jerseys have been recovered by NFL Security with the help of law enforcement officials.

In a statement released on Tuesday, a league spokesperson said both jerseys were found in the possession of a credentialed member of the international media.

“Through the cooperation of the NFL and New England Patriots’ security teams, the FBI and other law enforcement authorities, the Super Bowl LI jersey worn last month by MVP Tom Brady has been recovered,” the league wrote. “Also retrieved during the ongoing investigation was the jersey Brady wore in the Patriots’ victory in Super Bowl XLIX against the Seattle Seahawks in 2015. The items were found in the possession of a credentialed member of the international media. Due to the ongoing investigation, we would refer any additional questions to the FBI.”

Jay Glazer of FOX Sports first reported the news about Brady’s Super Bowl LI jersey being located, and CSSNE.com’s Tom E. Curran later added that it was actually two stolen jerseys that were recovered. The fact that they were found outside of the United States likely explains why the FBI was involved.

Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo revealed that the stolen memorabilia was recovered in Mexico.

Brady has been a great sport since the crime was committed last month and even shared a hilarious suspect board on social media. The story was unusual enough before we learned that two game-worn jerseys were stolen. I think it’s safe to assume a certain “credentialed” member of the international media won’t be credentialed anymore.
