The NFL Players Association does not approve of the league’s new policy regarding the national anthem, and the union is officially challenging it.
On Tuesday, the NFLPA announced that a grievance has been filed over the anthem policy, claiming that it “infringes on player rights” and is inconsistent with the collective bargaining agreement between players and the league.

For those who are unfamiliar with it, the NFL’s new anthem policy gives players the option to remain in the locker room if they do not want to stand on the sideline for the national anthem. However, if they choose to take the field and kneel or take part in some other political demonstration during the anthem, their teams would be subject to fines.
Several players have already ripped the new policy in enthusiastic fashion, so it’s no surprise the NFLPA is trying to have it thrown out.
