Nick Bosa explains why he is glad 49ers have short week

NFL teams generally dislike when they have to play on Thursdays because of the short preparation period. The Sunday-to-Thursday turnaround does not leave much time for teams to gameplan, practice, and prepare for their next opponents, or to recover physically from the previous game.

That is not the case this week for San Francisco 49ers edge rusher Nick Bosa. The 49ers are set to travel to Seattle for a Thursday night game against the Seahawks, and at this point, Bosa is welcoming it. The 49ers lost 24-23 to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, blowing a late lead, and Bosa is eager to get that taste out of the team’s mouth.

“I think we need to turn the page on this one. It’s pretty clear what happened and why we lost,” Bosa said after Sunday’s game, via Kirk Larrabee of 49ers Web Zone. “So I think it’s kind of a blessing in disguise that we’re playing on Thursday.”

For a team that has suffered as many injuries as the 49ers have, the short turnaround is not necessarily ideal. Things got even worse on Sunday when kicker Jake Moody suffered a high ankle sprain, which wound up playing a significant role in the loss. The 49ers have a very short window to find a new kicker, among other issues.

Still, Bosa might be right. The 49ers are now 2-3, and this is a big divisional game for them. If they can get right against Seattle, the Arizona game will not look like such a big deal. If the Seahawks beat them, however, things could get rough.
