Nick Bosa is set to return this season after suffering a torn ACL last year, but he may have hit a bump in the road in his recovery.
The San Francisco 49ers edge rusher is dealing with tendinitis in his surgically-repaired knee, coach Kyle Shanahan said Tuesday. Shanahan said the issue is common, but that the team will ultimately manage Bosa carefully on a week-to-week basis.

Bosa suffered his ACL injury last September, so the 49ers are being careful with him. This is obviously not great news, but the 49ers do not sound overly concerned, and he would probably be managed carefully in the preseason whether he was dealing with a knee issue or not.
Bosa turns 29 in October. His last fully healthy season was 2024, when he collected nine sacks in 14 games. His best season remains 2022, when he piled up 18.5 sacks.
For now, there is no reason to panic about Bosa. If he is still dealing with pain in Week 1, that might be reason for concern.
