Report: Numerous teams ranked Daniel Jones higher than Dwayne Haskins
Many were surprised to see the New York Giants make Daniel Jones the second quarterback selected in the NFL Draft, but they reportedly were not alone in their assessment of the class.
According to ESPN NFL Draft analyst Jim Nagy, the majority of teams he spoke to had Jones higher on their draft boards than Dwayne Haskins, who many thought the Giants might be interested in at No. 6 overall.
1ST ROUND TAKEAWAYS
1) @jets got best player in draft at No. 3 with Q. Williams
2) Raiders got the two most physical tone-setters on each side of the ball (RB Jacobs and SS Abram) in the draft
3) Majority of teams I spoke with had Jones rated higher than Haskins— Jim Nagy (@JimNagy_SB) April 26, 2019
Talk before the draft indicated that the Giants might like Jones more than any other quarterback in the field. It may well be that NFL scouts like Jones and view him as a ready-made game managing quarterback. Maybe that’s not elite, but in a quarterback class that lacks a slam-dunk prospect, it may be enough to stand out.
