Oilers coach takes savage shot at Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills are catching strays ahead of the NHL Stanley Cup Finals.

Edmonton Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch is preparing his team to face the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup Finals, which will begin with Game 1 on Saturday night. The Western Conference champion Oilers are facing the Florida Panthers, who successfully defended their Eastern Conference title to return to the Stanley Cup Finals for the second consecutive year.

Florida lost 4-1 to the Las Vegas Knights in the Stanley Cup Finals last year, but many believe the experience will be a big advantage for them against Edmonton. Knoblauch was asked on Tuesday if he thinks experience will be a factor in the series. He responded with a ruthless shot at the Bills.

“Yeah, experience is good. I don’t know how much experience is beneficial,” Knoblauch said. “You can ask the Buffalo Bills how important Super Bowl experience is, but I think the biggest thing is just having confidence to play. When our guys are playing their best, they should have a lot of confidence.”

Bills fans are accustomed to comments like that from their NFL rivals, but there is no way they could have anticipated a haymaker during a Stanley Cup Finals press conference. That was just cold.

The Bills have never won a Super Bowl. They infamously lost four consecutive Super Bowls from 1990-1993, and their fans hate being reminded of it. Knoblauch’s comment might have been lighthearted, but he will probably have a lot of people in Buffalo rooting against his team in the Stanley Cup Finals now.
