Packers release Jordy Nelson after getting Jimmy Graham

The Green Bay Packers are bringing in one top receiving option, but they’re also getting rid of another.

The team announced on Tuesday that they have released Jordy Nelson.

Nelson was due around $9 million in 2018, but coming off a 2017 season in which he caught just 53 passes for 482 yards and six touchdowns, many suspected Green Bay could part ways with him. That thought became even more likely after the Packers gave Davante Adams a big contract extension.

Nelson has posted four seasons of at least 1,200 receiving yards and 69 career receiving touchdowns. Even though he’ll be 33 in May, other teams should have interest in him.

News of Nelson’s impending release comes right after the Packers agreed to a three-year deal with tight end Jimmy Graham.
