Panthers reportedly releasing veteran safety Kurt Coleman
The Carolina Panthers are making at least one significant change to their secondary this offseason.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that the Panthers have decided to release veteran safety Kurt Coleman.
The #Panthers are releasing S Kurt Coleman, I’m told. The veteran leader had a $5.25M cap hit. His release clears space as they go younger.

Coleman, 29, spent the past three seasons in Carolina. He started 12 games last year and recorded 76 total tackles.
The Panthers are looking to get younger this offseason, and there has been talk that they want to overhaul their wide receiver group. It makes sense that they would try to bring in another defensive back via the draft and spend the money they would have paid Coleman elsewhere.
