The New York Giants have made it quite clear that they’re huge fans of quarterback Eli Manning from top to bottom despite the questions that surround him.
That was made clear by Giants co-owner John Mara voicing his desire to see Manning start a full slate of 16 games this season. It sparked rumors that ownership was pushing coach Pat Shurmur to start Manning regardless of Daniel Jones’ progress, but Shurmur said he independently shares Mara’s dream.
Pat Shurmur on John Mara’s declaration that in a perfect world Eli Manning would play 16 games, he’s the Week 1 starter: “John owns the team. I’ve said the same things, but sometimes you guys don’t believe me, but we’re on the same page.” #Giants #NFL pic.twitter.com/qn4urTlKuT

Mara loves Manning and has made it abundantly clear in the past that he doesn’t view the team’s struggles as Manning’s fault. That’s a pretty big security blanket to have, especially when the coach seems to feel the same way.
