Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs agree to 10-year contract extension

Patrick Mahomes

Patrick Mahomes has agreed to his first NFL contract extension, and it is a massive one as expected.

Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to a 10-year extension that will keep the reigning Super Bowl MVP under contract with the team through 2031, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.

As expected, the deal will be the richest contract in NFL history.

Some questioned whether or not the Chiefs would sign Mahomes to an extension with new uncertainty caused by the coronavirus pandemic, but that did not stand in the way of a deal. The two sides have been discussing a record-breaking contract throughout the offseason.

Mahomes led the Chiefs to a Super Bowl title last year and was named MVP. He won the NFL MVP Award in 2018, when he threw for 5,097 yards, 50 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
