The NFL is exploring the idea of implementing a new rule this season that would give teams an alternative to attempting an onside kick, and Patrick Mahomes wants to remind team owners that they could be playing with fire.
The new rule, which is reportedly gaining steam and has a legitimate chance of being implemented, would allow teams to attempt to convert on 4th-and-15 from their own 25-yard line instead of kicking the ball off or going for an onside kick. Teams could attempt the play no more than two times per game. Mahomes shared his thoughts on the idea with a subtle tweet, and it sure seems like the reigning Super Bowl MVP is excited.

The Kansas City Chiefs have the most explosive offense in football, so it would not be hard to envision them taking advantage of the 4th-and-15 scenario. Between Mahomes’ ability to keep plays alive and the eye-popping speed of his favorite receiver, giving Mahomes two extra plays a game with the ball in his hands could be a nightmare for opponents.
