Patriots bench Tom Brady late in blowout loss
The New England Patriots aren’t often so badly beaten that Tom Brady sits out the end of a game, but that’s what happened Sunday.
Brady was benched at home with 7:13 remaining in the fourth quarter, immediately after the Tennessee Titans scored a touchdown to go ahead 34-10. That led Bill Belichick to send backup Brian Hoyer in for the remainder as New England simply played out the final seven minutes.
Down big in the fourth quarter, the #Patriots have put backup QB Brian Hoyer in to finish it out. The #Titans and Bill Belichick’s old pupil Mike Vrabel take a huge win.

Brady’s final drive of the day featured him moonlighting as a wide receiver. New England emptied the playbook to try to get back into the game. When it didn’t work, they simply called it a day and let their starter get some rest. The Patriots have a bye week next week, and Brady will be right back at it after that.
