The New England Patriots have lost one of their best players for the remainder of the season.
Veteran center David Andrews suffered a shoulder injury during the Patriots’ 30-13 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. Mark Daniels of MassLive.com reported on Wednesday morning that Andrews was trying to determine if he could play through the injury, but apparently that will not be an option.
Andrews is expected to undergo surgery and be placed on season-ending injured reserve, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media.

Andrews, a longtime team captain, has been with the Patriots since 2015. He was Tom Brady’s trusted center for several seasons and was a key member of Super Bowl champion teams in 2016 and 2018.
The Patriots fell to 1-3 with their loss to San Francisco and have looked like one of the worst teams in the NFL over the past two weeks. Their offensive line has been a huge issue through the early part of the season, and they now have another challenge to overcome as they prepare to host the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.
