PGA Tour trolls Carolina Panthers in since-deleted social media post

Scottie Scheffler resumed his dominance of the golf world on Sunday with a win at the PGA Championship, and the Carolina Panthers somehow caught a stray immediately after that happened.

Scheffler finished with a score of 11-under to win by five shots at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, N.C. He now has 15 victories on the PGA Tour and three wins in major championships.

With the PGA Championship being held in Charlotte, someone who runs the PGA Tour’s official social media accounts thought it would be a good idea to fire a shot at the Panthers. The Tour shared a graphic on X and Instagram that pointed out that Scheffler has more victories since 2022 than Carolina’s NFL franchise.

The post was quickly deleted, but screenshots were captured:

The graphic was probably intended more to shine a spotlight on how good Scheffler has been rather than how much the Panthers have struggled. Still, Charlotte was the host city for the PGA Championship, and many fans who attended the event are probably Panthers supporters. Some viewed the post as biting the hand that feeds.

Scheffler is the No. 1 golfer in the world and has finished at least tied for the top 10 at 14 majors. He has had more success in his sport than almost all NFL teams have had in theirs in recent years, so the Panthers should not be too offended.

Scheffler delivered a great seven-word message after winning the PGA Championship.
