Randy Moss Reportedly Smarter than Any of Minnesota’s Coaches

He might not look like it, but Randy Moss is said to be one of the smartest football players around. Both Bill Belichick and Tom Brady have praised Moss endlessly, calling him one of the smartest receivers and players around whom they’ve been. Apparently Moss’ football acumen has been on display in Minnesota in addition to New England.

In a Yahoo! Sports piece Jason Cole says placing Randy Moss on waivers further proves how out of sorts coach Brad Childress is. A Vikings source apparently told Cole that Randy Moss is smarter than anyone on Minnesota’s coaching staff. “Look at what he does for everybody else. Percy [Harvin] is running free all over the field right now. The running game is moving along. I don’t even care about the fact that he’s smarter than everybody on the coaching staff. He’s a game-changer.”

Is that possible? Can Randy Moss be smarter than anyone on their coaching staff? I certainly give Randy the nod over that knucklehead Chilly, but over everyone else? Alright, maybe so. We do know that Moss would have made the right call at the end of the half against the Pats and that he could have done a better job exposing New England’s weaknesses. I wonder how Bill Belichick would answer the question if given the chance. And while we’re at it, Heath Evans also defended Moss as an excellent teammate.
