Randy Moss would only consider coming out of retirement for Peyton Manning, Tom Brady types

Randy-Moss-Wants-to-Return-to-PatriotsRandy Moss took the 2011 NFL season off and did not play last year or this year, but he still has not completely let go of the idea of playing in the NFL again.

Moss, who is currently an NFL analyst with FOX Sports, told “The Peter Schrager Podcast” that there are a few situations that would make him consider coming out of retirement.

“I’m gonna tell you this, for me to come out of retirement for a player such as Peyton Manning, I would consider that,” Moss said. “I really would consider it. I’m still in great shape, I can still run. I’m not the most old, but just by looking at the things I see on Sundays, I can still go out there and catch some passes and catch some touchdowns.”

After his comments on Schrager’s podcast, Moss was a guest on PTI where he was asked more about his comments. Moss told Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon that he stepped away from football because of what was going on with his family and children, not because of money or his physical ability.

“I still love the game — I’m loving what I’m doing here at Fox, don’t get it wrong — but for me to be able to come back to the game for a guy like Tom Brady or Peyton Manning, guys, I might consider something like that.

“But believe me, I’m loving and enjoying what I’m doing what now. It was just a question and I answered it the best way I knew how.”

Moss caught 50 touchdown passes over 52 games with the Patriots, so it’s understandable why playing with a guy like Brady would appeal to him. But let’s be real: Moss wasn’t much of a factor with the 49ers in 2012, so he probably wouldn’t be much of one in 2014, even though the Seahawks did reach out to him after trading Percy Harvin to the Jets.
