Ravens OC Greg Roman to interview for Browns head coaching job
The Cleveland Browns are looking for a head coach who can take Baker Mayfield’s game to the next level, so it makes sense that the man who helped turn Lamar Jackson into the most exciting player in the NFL would be on their list of potential candidates.
The Browns are expected to interview Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Greg Roman for their head coaching vacancy on Thursday evening, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports.
The #Browns have a busy day: They plan to interview #Ravens creative offensive coordinator Greg Roman tonight, sources informed of their thinking say. Would imagine Baker Mayfield would enjoy this. That interview follows Mike McCarthy.

Roman helped rebuild Baltimore’s offense after the team transitioned from Joe Flacco to Jackson, and to say he did an outstanding job would be an understatement. His use of the run-pass option with Jackson has made the Ravens almost impossible for teams to defend.
The Browns are looking at both offensive- and defensive-minded coaches for their head coaching vacancy. They interviewed former Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy on Thursday, and they are expected to meet with Josh McDaniels and San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh. McCarthy and McDaniels have previous head coaching experience, while Roman and Saleh do not. For what it’s worth, Freddie Kitchens was hired by the Browns despite not having head coaching experience, and that was a disaster.
One star Ravens player already hinted that losing Roman would be a problem, but that is what happens when coordinators enjoy great success. It seems like only a matter of time before Roman gets a shot at a head coaching gig.
