The Baltimore Ravens are clinging to optimism regarding the status of wide receiver Zay Flowers, even though the signs on the surface are not good.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh maintained that Flowers “has a chance” to play Sunday against the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Divisional round. Flowers did not take part on Friday’s practice, which is usually a bad sign for a player’s availability.

The Ravens will presumably do everything they can to have Flowers available Sunday, but the signs are not good. He has not practiced at all since suffering his Week 18 knee injury, and just as the Ravens feared, his status does not seem to be improving quickly enough.

Flowers tallied 74 catches for 1,059 yards and four touchdowns on the season, good enough for a Pro Bowl nod. The Ravens won without him against Pittsburgh, but might find the Bills to be a much tougher test to navigate without him.
