Green Bay Packers running Ty Montgomery reportedly broke his ribs during Thursday night’s game against the Chicago Bears.

Montgomery left the game during the Packers’ opening drive with what the team termed a chest injury. He was said to be questionable to return.

NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport later reported that Montgomery suffered broken ribs and would not return to the game.

Montgomery carried five times on the Packers’ opening drive, which resulted in a touchdown.

CBS’ Tracy Wolfson says the Packers would not confirm Rapoport’s report, though they did say Montgomery would not return to the game. Analyst Tony Romo explained that the Packers wouldn’t want anyone to know about broken ribs so that future opponents couldn’t target the injury.

Montgomery entered Thursday’s game with 124 rushing yards and 129 receiving yards on the season.
