Report: Redskins still don’t believe Dwayne Haskins is ready to start
Many assume the Washington Redskins’ decision to finally part ways with head coach Jay Gruden will pave the way for rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins to get an opportunity to start, but apparently Gruden was not the only one in the organization who is not sold on the former Ohio State star just yet.
Shortly after Washington announced that Gruden has been fired, ESPN’s Dianna Russini reported that a Redskins coach told her the team believes it could be another year or two before Haskins is ready to take over.
Dianna Russini on ESPN: A #Redskins coach told me Dwayne Haskins is having trouble ID’ing defenses and calling plays in the huddle.
Russini said the coach told her that not only is Haskins “not ready now” but it could be “another year or even two years before he is.” pic.twitter.com/COaHJRcXnS

It’s possible there is a divide between Washington’s coaching staff and front office, so it could be that some remaining members of Gruden’s staff feel the same way he does about Haskins. With the team now 0-5 and clearly not going anywhere under Case Keenum or Colt McCoy, it would not be a surprise if Haskins gets a chance to prove himself this year.
Things are clearly a mess in Washington, and firing Gruden won’t instantly fix that. We got a glimpse of the dysfunction with some of the remarks Adrian Peterson made after Sunday’s loss to the New England Patriots, so don’t expect all of that to go away just because Gruden is gone.
