Report: Chargers rookie WR Mike Williams activated from PUP list
The Los Angeles Chargers may be planning to have rookie Mike Williams back before too long.
NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported on Saturday that the Chargers will take Williams off the PUP list and place him on the active roster to begin the season.

This is big news because there was a possibility that Williams could have opened the season on the PUP list. Had he opened on the PUP list, he wouldn’t have been eligible to return until after the first six games of the season. Placing the wide receiver on the active roster means the Chargers don’t mind having him taking up a roster spot, suggesting he won’t miss too much time.
Williams was taken No. 7 overall out of Clemson but instantly had back problems. He was ruled out for training camp because of his back. A recent report said the Chargers were hoping to have him back in October.
