Report: Earl Thomas not expected to report to Seahawks

Earl Thomas

The NFL season kicks off on Thursday, and Earl Thomas still has not reported to the Seattle Seahawks. According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, that’s not going to change unless Thomas gets a new contract, which doesn’t appear imminent.

Rapoport reported on NFL Network’s “NFL GameDay” season preview show that Thomas is not expected to show up and play for Seattle.

“There have been no legitimate contract discussions really since he began his holdout,” Rapoport said. “Dallas still has interest in trading for him, but they’re only willing to give up a third-round pick, not the second-rounder and change that Seattle wants. Until something changes, my understanding is Earl Thomas is not expected to show up and play for the Seahawks.”

Thomas has made his intent to holdout quite clear. The fact that he has yet to report to the team shows that he will miss regular season time. It seems that the only possible resolution will be a trade, though Seattle might have to lower its price since the Cowboys are not giving them what they want.
