Richard Sherman blasts NFL focus on protecting QBs

Richard Sherman

After a Miami Dolphins defensive lineman’s season was ended while trying to stay within the NFL’s new roughing the passer rules, Richard Sherman is blasting the league’s priorities.

It started when Dolphins lineman William Hayes tore his ACL after his foot got caught in the ground attempting to avoid putting his full weight on the quarterback, which would be penalized under the new NFL rules.

In response to this news, Sherman offered up a fairly blunt take: the NFL doesn’t particularly care about the health of its players as long as quarterbacks are protected.

The San Francisco 49ers cornerback also responded to a fan asking what has happened to the NFL that people loved.

In the past, Sherman has been openly critical of NFL rule changes and proposals that he feels hinder the game. It’s pretty obvious how he feels about recent efforts to protect the quarterback.
