Richard Sherman hilariously recounts Kyle Shanahan’s ‘BS’ training camp plays
Kyle Shanahan does not go easy on defenses. That apparently applies to training camp drills, too.
San Francisco 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman hilariously recounted some of the plays his coach ran in training camp, when teams are supposed to be sorting out the basics. Sherman said Shanahan knew that his defense would not be able to stop some of the “BS” the coach called for during these drills.
“He’ll throw so much BS at you,” Sherman said, via Dieter Kurtenbach of Bay Area News Group. “And they’re not game-planning for anything.
“Some of these plays… man, he knew there was no way we could stop this play if we run our scheme the correct way. We literally have to bastardize every bit of this coverage to stop this play. And he’s not even thinking anything of it — that’s just how he is. It’s like
‘You’re a dick!'”
We’ve come a long way from Shanahan’s playcalling being questioned after Atlanta’s Super Bowl loss. He’s clearly an inventive guy who really wants to torment defenses. If he’s as hard on opponents as he is on his own unit, it’s safe to say he’s succeeding.
