Richie Incognito signs with Bills

Richie-Incognito

After an entire year off from football last season, former Miami Dolphins center Richie Incognito has signed with the Buffalo Bills. Jeff Darlington of the NFL Network was the first to report the news.

Incognito was released by the Dolphins during the 2013 season amid accusations that he led a bullying campaign against Jonathan Martin that resulted in the former Stanford offensive lineman leaving the team. He has also long had a reputation for being a dirty player.

One of Rex Ryan’s first proclamations after he took over as head coach of the Bills was that he wants to turn the team into a “bully.” What better way to start than by signing the player who was at the center of the most infamous (only?) bullying scandal in NFL history?

Incognito will turn 32 in July, and he will be no lock to make Buffalo’s roster. He is already past his prime, and it is no guarantee that he can play at a high level. There has to be a reason this team did not sign Incognito after hosting him for a workout during the 2014 season.
