Robert Griffin III fires back at Santana Moss over Mike Shanahan comments
Former Washington Redskins wide receiver Santana Moss said in a radio interview this week that Robert Griffin III went around bragging about being the reason Mike Shanahan got fired, and RG3 wasted no time firing back.
On Tuesday morning, Griffin addressed Moss’s comments on Twitter and said his former teammate “openly” lied.

Santana Moss, I treat you like a brother & have always had your back. To openly lie about me is a betrayal…..— Robert Griffin III (@RGIII) September 19, 2017
Been lied on a lot over the years

RG3 then tried to tell his side of the story:
Put in an impossible situation w/ a coach who never wanted me. Made players like Santana Moss a believer through hard work, film study…

Showing up early, leaving late, putting in the extra hours, staying after practice & getting extra work in. We won the division that year.

Next year coach wants out, says he wants out, says he never wanted me as his QB & I GET BLAMED? C'mon man. I have been the good soldier.

Some so desperately want me to fit this negative narrative that has been pushed about me. But I don't fit it. Never have. Never will.

Proved it in Cleveland. Voted Captain. Came back to play for my teammates just to help us win 1 game. With a broken shoulder. Stop the lies

It was common knowledge that Griffin’s relationship with Shanahan ended on a sour note, and Moss said he believes Shanahan was robbed of what could have been some more good years with the Redskins. The ex-receiver claimed Griffin essentially went around gloating that Shanahan got fired because he chose to bench RG3, which is likely the part that angered Griffin. You can read more of what Moss had to say here.
Moss hinted that the way Griffin handled Shanahan’s firing was one of the reasons Jay Gruden was so hard on the quarterback. He also implied that it could be part of the reason why RG3 remains a free agent. This isn’t the first we have heard about Griffin acting smug over the influence he had with the Redskins.
