Robert Griffin III returns to practice

Robert Griffin

Cleveland Browns quarterback Robert Griffin III will return to practice on Wednesday, the team announced in a press release.

Griffin, who fractured his left shoulder in Week 1, can practice for up to 21 days before the team needs to decide whether to add him to the active roster or keep him on injured reserve for the remainder of the season.

Griffin was cleared for non-contact activity last week after receiving good news from doctors. The Browns are still in search of their first win of the season, and RG3 signed a two-year contract with the team. As long as he’s healthy, there’s no reason Hue Jackson won’t want to bring him back and get him more acclimated with the offense, at the very least.

With Cody Kessler possibly being shut down for the season after a second concussion (video here), the Browns will turn to veteran Josh McCown in Week 12. Griffin could eventually take McCown’s place down the stretch if he shows enough in practice.
