Robert Griffin III allegedly cut off estranged wife’s credit card
Robert Griffin III is going through some complex times in his personal life, with things going well in his new relationship, and matters in his previous relationship becoming strained.
RG3 filed for divorce from his estranged wife Rebecca back in September after months of being separated. The former Browns QB had already been dating a new girl — Grete Sadeiko — prior to filing for divorce. The two are now engaged and even expecting a child.
Meanwhile, Griffin is still sorting out his divorce from Rebecca, who is seeking temporary child and spousal support.
Bossip on Tuesday published court documents filed by Rebecca’s attorneys in which the estranged wife requests the court to grant her the temporary child and spousal support. They are requesting that RG3 pay reasonable attorneys fees for Rebecca and allow her to keep the family’s home. Rebecca also claims that Griffin has cut her off financially, so she is requesting her credit card be reinstated. According to the court documents, Rebecca claims to have $36,000 worth of monthly expenses between raising their daughter and maintaining the family’s two homes.
Some of this is typical of a divorce case. Oftentimes the party seeking support tries to inflate expenses, while the party hoping to keep support payments to a minimum tends to downplay their earnings and assets.
Even though the two have a prenuptial agreement that calls for arbitration for claims that fall outside the agreement, Rebecca’s side wants child custody and child support to be determined by the court.
Griffin currently being an unsigned player probably won’t help Rebecca’s case, as the quarterback’s free agent status means his income is much lower than if he were signed.
