The NFL had its official Twitter account hacked on Tuesday, and the result was a Roger Goodell death hoax.
A tweet that got nearly 2,000 retweets in the short time it was live claimed that Goodell had passed away. Deadspin captured a screenshot:
Multiple reports quickly surfaced assuring folks the NFL commissioner is alive and well, but that didn’t stop the hackers from having more fun before the league got the situation squared away.
As we saw with what happened to this NFL draft pick, Twitter hacking can be a very dangerous thing. I’m sure the NFL hackers gave some people a scare.
